MANSFIELD – Two people are in critical condition Monday after a motorcycle collided with a pick-up truck in Richland County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Mark Watson, 41, of Barberton, is in critical condition, according to the Patrol, after an incident on State Route 430 near Biscayne Drive around 11:03 a.m. on Monday. His passenger, Erika Watson, 40, of Barberton, was also listed in critical condition.
According to the Patrol, the crash occurred when a 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle crashed into the rear of a 2007 maroon Toyota pick-up truck. Both vehicles were traveling westbound on State Route 430 when the pick-up truck stopped to turn left into a private drive. The motorcycle approached the pickup and failed to stop, laying the bike down and skidding into the rear of the pick-up truck.
Both Watsons were transported to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. The occupants on the motorcycle were not wearing helmets at the time of the crash, the Patrol stated.
The driver of the Toyota was 51-year-old Lee Shull, of Mansfield. Shull was not injured as a result of the crash.
Madison and Mifflin Township Fire and EMS, Highway Patrol and Aber’s Towing all responded and assisted with the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
