MANSFIELD — The Mansfield Playhouseis excited for the grand reopening of live theater and is celebrating with the spirit of Christmas in July.

After an extended hiatus from the rehearsal process, the cast is preparing to perform Jean Shepherd’s, “A Christmas Story.”

Based on the classic movie of humorist Jean Shepherd’s memoir of growing up in the midwest in the 1940s, the play follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree for Christmas.

This classic stage presentation will be performed live in the newly renovated auditorium July 9, 10, 16, & 17 at 7 p.m. and a matinee performance July 18 at 2:30 p.m.
