AMHERST — Isaac Brooks made a statement Friday afternoon.

The Madison junior won regional championships in both the 110 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles in the wind and rain at Amherst Steele High School.

Brooks won the 110s in 14.74 seconds and broke the tape in the 300s in 39.47.

Madison’s Nevaeh Lewis also had a big day. The freshman speedster won a regional championship in the 100 meter dash (12.67) and took third in the 200 (27.08). She teamed with Kari Eckenwiler, Alexsia Davis and Montana Walker to win the 4×200 relay in 1:43.37.

Lexington’s Joanna Halfhill and Halle Hamilton and Ashland’s Dylan Hickey also earned state berths with top-four finishes. Halfhill was second in the 1,600 with a time of 5:12.61 while Hamilton was third in the 3,200 in 11:00.91. Hickey placed third in the boys 1,600 in 4:24.16.

The remaining field events were postponed because of the weather and will be completed Sunday.
