ONTARIO — The Area Agency on Aging still has availability for its mass COVID-19 vaccination effort Thursday. Walk-ins are welcome until 4 p.m. or until vaccine doses run out.
The agency’s Nicole Williams said the clinic has a total of 300 doses of the Moderna vaccine to administer first-time jabs. Any Ohioan from any county who is 18 or older can receive the vaccine for free. No insurance is required.
Many forms of ID are accepted to verify name, identity and age. No proof of citizenship or residency status is required.
There were approximately 229 individuals signed up for appointments as of Thursday at 9:50 a.m., according to Javar Jackson, chief operations officer at Third Street Family Health Services.
“Third Street and the Area Agency on Aging are partnering to assist Richland and other surrounding counties in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic,” Jackson said. “Public health is a community effort.”
Most vaccinations are taking place inside, but those with mobility challenges can request to be vaccinated from their vehicles.
The clinic is taking place at the Hawkins Corner complex at 2131 Park Ave. West in Ontario.
Members of the Ohio National Guard and Third Street employees are onsite administering the vaccine. Employees from the Area Agency on Aging are assisting with traffic control and coordinating the clinic.
