ASHLAND — An Ashland man was seriously hurt Saturday night after a vehicle collided with a horse-drawn buggy in Milton Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The operator of the buggy, Daniel Miller, 43, Ashland, was transported from the scene to an area hospital for serious injuries, the Patrol reported.

The driver of the vehicle, a Ford Fusion was identified as Brittany L. Jones, 34, of Ashland. Jones and her juvenile passenger were not injured in the crash.

The incident took place on Ohio 96 near Township Road 1353 at approximately 6:10 p.m.

Troopers from the Ashland Post responded to the scene and located a 2014 Ford Fusion and a horse-drawn buggy off the south side of the State Route 96. The Fusion had heavy front-end damage and the buggy had heavy damage from the collision.

The buggy was traveling westbound on State Route 96, when it was struck from behind by the Fusion, the Patrol stated.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, Ashland Fire/EMS, and Gibb’s Towing. The crash remains under investigation.
