MANSFIELD — The Girl Scouts of Richland County have been spreading love and gratitude with their latest service project.

Troops were thankful to receive a donation of unused Valentine’s Day cards and put them to use as an opportunity to connect with members of the community. More than 500 cards were mailed out with many going to rehabilitation and nursing homes in Bellville, Lexington, and Shelby.

Cards were also mailed to local church members that are unable to attend in person. A portion of the cards were taken from their Valentine’s theme and turned into Thank You cards to send to hospice staff along with other frontline healthcare workers.

These cards not only brought some cheer locally, but some of the service project cards made it as far as California. Sending cards is not new to this group as they just completed a Veteran’s Day card service project in November.

As Girl Scout Week is approaching the Girl Scouts of Richland County are getting ready for their fourth annual All-County Service Project and excited to see what else they can do to give back to their community.
