LEXINGTON — Mansfield Senior withstood a furious Lexington rally in the closing minutes to earn a 43-41 Ohio Cardinal Conference road win on Saturday night.

Maurice Ware topped the Tygers with 21 points, while Shad Creamer added 10.

Lexington was paced by Baden Forup’s 15 points. Teammate Hudson Moore chipped in nine points and seven rebounds.

The two squads battled to a 9-9 first-quarter tie, before Senior High opened a 28-22 halftime advantage. The Tygers expanded the margin to 37-28 heading to the final eight minutes.

Coach Marquis Sykes watched his team take control with a late 41-30 bulge, but the Minutemen charged back before falling just short.

Mansfield Senior has won five of its last six games to improve to 7-5 overall, 4-2 in the OCC. The Tygers bus to Wooster on Tuesday night.

Lexington drops to 4-7, 0-6, and travels to Madison on Monday night.
