Drive down Dickson Parkway in Woodland today and you’ll be passing through the heart of the old Dickson Farm.

Before James Dickson owned it the land was the Stewart farm, so the old farmhouse stood on the farm lane today known as Stewart Lane.

When Dickson began developing his acreage into the neighborhoods of Woodland in the 1920s he labeled several of the streets after significant names in his life, including Andover (where he went to college,) Yale (where his friends went,) and Bigelow (who was his best friend for many years.)

This snowy view of the Dickson farmhouse was taken from an angle that was northeast of the building, in a spot where today there are homes and grassy yards of Chevy Chase Road.
