MANSFIELD: Dale William Oswalt, age 92, passed away Monday, November 23, 2020, in OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital exactly 10 months since the passing of his wife Beverly. They are now together resting in the Father’s arms.

Dale was born October 16, 1928, in Richland County the son of Ralph & Vonnie (Rinehart) Oswalt the 11th of 12 children. After graduating from Union High School he served as a cook in the United States Army on the frontlines during the Korean War.

Dale worked as a model engineer with Tappan for over 40 years. He met Beverly (Daugherty) Ransom and the pair married on February 22, 1983. In younger years, Dale faithfully attended Park Avenue Baptist and more recently was a member of Berean Baptist Church in Mansfield. He was a Godly man who lived out his faith in God daily.

Dale had a competitive streak and enjoyed throwing horseshoes, playing pool, and solving puzzles. He and his wife lived at the Apostolic Christian Home for the past 12 years and they liked playing dominos and cards with friends and attending programs sponsored by the home. He was a hardworking and giving man who loved to sing hymns. He also learned to play the harmonica quite well from his father and passed the gift on to his son.

He is survived by his children and their spouses: Jill & Dick Kaber of Mansfield, Alan & Claudia Oswalt of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Bryan & Tina Oswalt of Ashland, and Kevin Oswalt of Mansfield; grandchildren and their spouses: Jodi & Kyle Dickerson, Stacey & Jeff Congrove, Morgan Oswalt, Carlie Oswalt, Jason Oswalt, Tiffany & Ross Steward, Paul Oswalt, and Brandon Oswalt; seven great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law Earl & Betty Oswalt; and Bev’s side of the family including step-daughters Terri, Trudy, Mary, and Christine along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren all of whom he dearly loved as his own.

In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his wife Beverly Oswalt, granddaughter Hannah Oswalt, and ten siblings.

The Oswalt family will receive friends 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Monday, November 30, 2020, in the Finefrock Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes (350 Marion Avenue in Mansfield) with a private family service to follow officiated by his grandson-in-law Kyle Dickerson. Social distancing will be observed. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
