PERRYSVILLE: Robert E. Young passed away Monday, September 7, 2020 in his home surrounded by his family. He was 68.
He was born October 8, 1951 in Mansfield to the late Clarence and Joan (Self) Young.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and was honorably discharged in 1972.
On November 4th that same year he married Rose Buckley with whom he celebrated 47 years.
Bob worked at Ohio Brass, Universal Enterprises and Shelly and Sands as a heavy equipment operator.
He enjoyed camping (mostly at Pleasant Hill), recreational shooting and dirt bike and quad running. Bob and Rose took many motorcycle trips to Canada, West Virginia and Kentucky. He was a jack of many trades doing anything from concrete and woodwork, to tinkering on cars. Nothing brought him more joy than being the ring leader of “Club Grandkids”… he doted on them endlessly making sure they were all thoroughly spoiled.
He is survived by his wife Rose Young of Perrysville, sons Robert and Johnna Young, and Russell and Tasha Young all of Mansfield, eight grandchildren Nikolas, Logan, Riley, Landyn, Gracie, Brynlee, Kaden and Preston Young; in-laws Elizabeth (Bill) Hurst, Valeria (Gary) Smith, Jonnie (Ron) Barnes, Dave Saltz and Mike Griesbach along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by in-laws Russell, Charles and Mike Buckley and Frankie Griesbach.
Friends may call Friday, September 11, 2020 from 2-3 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will follow at 3 pm. Burial with military honors will follow in Zion Four Corners Cemetery.
