NEWARK — As our communities encounter change, making them more inclusive and helping all to feel welcome is of even more importance. Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) and The Ohio State University at Newark’s Community Intercultural Relations Committee will hold the 11th annual Community Intercultural Conference to teach techniques of inclusion and belonging to help each of us make true connections.
The conference, Continuing to Create a Community of Belonging, will be held on Friday, Sept. 25 from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in a virtual setting that will include live discussions and workshops and pre-recorded videos. True connections are achievable at every level of management, supervision, leadership, mentorship and friendship. Participants will learn active listening techniques that are practical and easy to apply for everyday conversations.
The keynote speaker and conference facilitator will be Daniel Juday.
Juday loves traveling, meeting new people, and working to build bridges of understanding and empathy across challenging “divides.” He deeply believes that all people matter, and he’s spent much of his life working in roles that have allowed him to develop thinking around the nature of education and learning, relationship-building, and professional growth. Juday works with conference planners, learning and development leaders, nonprofit boards, and corporate entities – all in a pursuit to make the spaces they influence more inclusive.
He graduated from The Ohio State University with a Master’s of Education. Juday will facilitate multiple sessions including Redefining Diversity and Exercising Inclusion and The Power of Authentic Connections and Relationships.
Diversity Talks: This session will allow local individuals with diverse backgrounds the opportunity to talk about their experiences and the importance of community belonging. Attendees will be able to ask questions of the individuals chosen for this session after hearing from them.

Tentative CEUs and re-certifications for 3 credit hours are being reviewed for counselor and social work CEUs provided by Behavioral Healthcare Partners of Central Ohio, Inc. and human resources professionals by Licking County Chamber of Commerce.*
