MANSFIELD — The Mansfield City School board of education is expected to discuss Tuesday creation of a new “COVID-19 preparedness and response coordinator” position.
The discussion and first-reading of the job description will come when the board meets in “virtual” session, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The session will be live-streamed on the district’s Facebook page.
According to the job description, the coordinator will “provide support to Mansfield City Schools as a focal point on activities related to COVID-19 preparedness,” both internal and external.
MCS COVID-19 response coordinator
The salary for the full-time coordinator will be at the executive assistant schedule, based on degree and experience. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in business management, human resources or a related field. They should also have one-year management experience, “including field level public health response.”
“The COVID-19 Preparedness and Response Coordinator will attend relevant meetings at national/state/local/or district level; collect Mansfield City Schools stakeholder feedback and provide input and guidance on national/state guidelines; ensure good coordination between the different MCS staff and teams involved in COVID-19 preparedness activities; (and) provide strategic direction, in collaboration with the county health director, state and federal directors in conjunction with the Ohio Department of Health and the CDC guidelines,” the description said.
The coordinator will direct coordinate MCS’s engagement in COVID-19 preparedness activities; coordinate and implement COVID-19 preparedness activities and help coordinate responses through health programming in all district building sites; and support emergency response and safety team interventions specific to COVID-19 response.
Also expected on Tuesday:
— Mansfield Senior High Principal Marinise Harris, Assistant Principal Robert McQuate and counselor Kayla Loughry will present a list of 153 graduates in the Class of 2020 for board approval.
— Interim Treasurer Jill Smith will offer a five-year district financial forecast.
— Supt. Stan Jefferson will present recommended summer facilities projects, including $134,955 for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning work for the band and choir rooms at Malabar Intermediate School.
— The board will vote on a number of personnel actions, including the appointment of Shirley Jefferson as assistant principal at Malabar, effective Aug. 1.
An executive session is scheduled at the end of the meeting. The board met in executive session last week, presumably to interview treasurer candidates.
The complete agenda can be found on the board of education page on the Mansfield City Schools website.
Due to the COVID-19 requirements for conducting meetings, requests to address the board will need to be submitted via email to the district interim Treasurer Jill Smith at smith.jill@mansfieldschools.org.
All email requests must be received by Smith by Tuesday at 5 p.m. Those sending emails need to provide a question or comment that can be read at the board meeting and addressed or answered in the allotted four-minute period of time for each person during this portion of the board meeting, according to district spokesperson Larry Gibbs.
