BUCYRUS — A truck driver and a passenger were treated for minor injuries after a tractor-trailer carrying raw pork rolled off the left side of U.S. 30 early Thursday morning.
Cargo was spilled in both directions, according to authorities, closing the highway while it was cleaned up.
Troopers with the Bucyrus Post of the State Highway Patrol and officers with the Bucyrus Police Department responded to the accident.
The crash occurred around 3:25 a.m. near the Tiffin Street overpass and caused U.S. 30 westbound traffic to be closed for about four hours. Eastbound traffic was closed for approximately five hours.
Jacob Lee Skiles, 21, of Logansport, Ind., was driving the 2018 Kenworth tractor-trailer. He and a passenger, Jana T. Whittaker, 25, of Logansport, were taken to Bucyrus Community Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
Troopers and officers were assisted by the Bucyrus Fire Department, Crawford County Emergency Management Services, Crawford County Sheriff’s Department, Ohio Department of Transportation, Engine Manufacturer’s Association, Environmental Protection Agency, Bloomfield Towing and Knecht’s Auto Recycling.
