MANSFIELD — The Lucas girls basketball team remained undefeated on Friday night after putting on a defensive clinic at Mansfield St. Peter’s.

The Cubs blanked the Spartans in the second quarter and roared to a 46-19 victory at the Franciscan Activity Center.

Lucas jumped in front 17-8 after the first quarter and opened the gap to 27-8 at halftime. Coach Cathy Grover’s club extended the advantage to 38-12 through three periods and rolled on to the win.

Paige Arnold led the Cubs (5-0) with 14 points, while Shelby Grover added 9.

Sophie Tridico’s six points spearheaded the Spartans’ scoring effort. St. Peter’s is back in action on Friday, Dec. 27 at Mansfield Christian when coach Roy Shoulders’ squad challenges Crestline at 2:50 p.m.
