MANSFIELD — Spent bullet casings were all that was found Monday evening after Mansfield police responded to a “shots fired” call in the area of Sturges Avenue and Ohio Street.
According to an MPD press release, officers responded at 8:16 p.m. to a report of several subjects shooting at each other.
Police found evidence of a shooting, including the aforementioned bullet casings. Witnesses told officers some of the participants had fled into a residence in the 200 block of Sturges Avenue.
“Several attempts were made in an effort to make contact with anyone in the residence with negative results. Due to the nature of the call and the possibility that someone may be injured inside, the Allied Special Operations Response Team made entry into the residence in an effort to locate anyone who may have been wounded during the exchange of gunfire,” police said.
The press release said no one was found inside. Officers remained on scene and were processing evidence Monday night.
Police said no suspects have been identified. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Detective Ronee Swisher at (419) 755-9432.
