MANSFIELD — Eric Biddle has turned a former storage room into an art gallery and event space on Mulberry Street.
The Gallery on Mulberry will host its first event on Saturday, Aug. 24.
“I always loved this building,” said Biddle, of Rebuild Local. “I knew the owners growing up and they owned Kafer’s (Flowers), I ended up getting the space this year.”
After clearing the building, redoing the floor and adding a new coat of paint, he realized the space was unfit for a residence.
“It was kind of an awkward space, but a beautiful one,” he said. “So we thought we could turn it into an art gallery.”
Saturday, The Gallery on Mulberry (43 Mulberry St.), will host paintings by Riley Kemerling, Joshua Arneson and Alison Pence. The event will run from 6 to 8 p.m. and is free to the public. There will be drinks and hors d’oeuvres.
“It’s cool that there’s so much art in a small town like this,” Biddle said. “I feel like some small towns don’t have as much art to support venues or galleries. Even through this process, we’ve met up with people doing art in different ways and it’s a lot bigger than even I thought it was.
It’s cool to see they way art and music is created in Mansfield.”
