MANSFIELD — The Gorman Nature Center is buzzing with excitement about the sixth annual Pollinator Festival, planned for Friday through Sunday.
“I wanted to have something all-encompassing, you know? Something with a lot of depth to it, so you’re not pigeon-holing yourself with just humming birds or bats. This was something we could really expand on,” said Jason Larson, executive director of the nature center, 295 Lexington Ave.
The Pollinator Festival is free to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
“We’ll have opening activities Friday, and then Saturday and Sunday we have fun activities like hikes and the other interactive activities,” Larson said.
He said activities are aimed at being fun and educational for all ages.
“The whole general idea is to have something kid-friendly and have something outdoors,” He said. “There is so much going on inside, so I want to have something fun for the whole family and have things the adults can do as well.
“Getting people to understand pollinators is really getting a better understanding of what’s in your back yard,” he said.
Larson estimated 2,000 people came to the festival in 2018.
“We’d like to keep doing these things and hosting more events,” he said. “We plan to do that in the future.”
