WOOSTER — A motorcycle passenger was killed and its driver seriously injured Sunday afternoon during a collision with a car on County Road 504, west of TR-73, in Wayne County’s Milton Township.
The crash at 4:55 p.m. involved an orange, 2017 Harley-Davidson Street Glide, operated by Steven W. Troyer 47, of Creston, Ohio, and a silver, 2008 Mercury Sable, driven by Julian Ortiz Ailon 55, of Creston, Ohio, according to the Wooster Post of the Highway Patrol.
Initial investigation revealed that Ailon was eastbound on CR-504, attempting to turn left into a private drive. Troyer was westbound on CR-504. Ailon failed to yield while turning left and collided with Troyer’s motorcycle, troopers said.
Troyer and his passenger were ejected from the motorcycle onto the roadway.
Troyer’s passenger Christina L. Troyer 48, of Creston, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Steven Troyer was transported by Canaan Fire Department to Wooster Community Hospital then later transported by Life Flight to Akron City Hospital with serious injuries.
Ailon was not injured in the crash.
Troyer and his passenger were not wearing helmets. Troyer did not have a motorcycle endorsement at the time of the crash. Alcohol does not seem to be a factor in this crash. The crash remains under investigation, the patrol said.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol Crash Reconstruction Unit assisted at the scene. The Wayne County Highway Department assisted with road closures.
