MANSFIELD — Allison Sowders has been found, according to Richland County Children Services’ Facebook page.
Sowders, 16, was reported missing by the Mansfield Police Department on April 11.
She returned Monday, April 22, according to Mansfield Police Capt. Shari Robertson who said Richland County Sherrif’s Office located her.
“We are grateful that this youth was located and turned herself in,” said Executive Director Patty Harrelson. “While I do not lightly waive our confidentiality, in any case where a youth in our custody goes missing, I will use every resource that we have (including Facebook, our agency website, local media, and law enforcement) in order to find them.
“The dangers of human trafficking are real and dangerous, and we will take any steps necessary to locate our kids.”
This is not the first time Sowders has gone missing. In December of 2017, she went missing, but turned herself in July of that year.
