MANSFIELD — Ohio Cremation & Memorial Society has announced the opening of a branch location in north central Ohio.

Founded in 1995 on High Street in Columbus by a local funeral director, the inception of the society was to fill the niche for families looking for a simple, stress-free and affordable option for cremation and memorial services. The flagship location serves families across Ohio, and with limited space and a growing market, a new location was necessary.

“Mansfield was chosen for the convenience of families living in the north half of the state.” said Beth Buxton, manager of the High Street memorial center.

Fully licensed by the Ohio Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors, the new local facility includes reception and conference space, a modest area for memorial services and life celebrations, urn selections and an office.

A licensed funeral director is available for consultation in person or by telephone 24-hours a day. The firm’s website: OhioCremation.org, clearly displays pricing and discounted service packages. The website even features a selection of forms, authorizations and resources that are easy to download and complete at home, prior to an appointment for pre-planning or for service at the time of someone’s passing.

Every thought was given to the client family for their ease and confidence in communicating their wishes, while addressing concerns with clear and concise answers.

Located at 9 Chambers Road in Ontario, the contemporary-transitional interior space decidedly does not look like a traditional funeral home.

Missing are the wing-back chairs and landscape paintings, replaced with a functional urn selection area, seating for a small gathering or private memorial service, and a kitchen space that allows client families the flexibility to include food and drink during or after their memorial time.

The memorial center is managed by Mike Lancaster. A Galion native, Mike graduated from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, has been a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer since 1994 and is a Certified Crematory Operator. His 25 years of experience as a funeral director keeps him attuned to the changing trends in cremation care.

“It’s exciting to see people’s reaction to this concept. When they realize our up-front pricing is genuine, it’s the true cost, a sense of relief comes to their face. The families I have already served at this new location, appreciate our Worry-Free Cremation process, it reinforces that they have made the simple and educated choice.

“It’s nice that area families no longer have to drive to Columbus for this kind of service”

Ohio’s first Cremation Society was created to honor the desire of families who say, “I just want something simple” or “I want a Celebration of Life service.”

The new location was selected to bring simple and affordable cremation options to the immediate Mansfield community, and to be more convenient for clients in Ashland, Shelby, Wooster, Orrville, Norwalk, Bucyrus, Willard and Upper Sandusky.

The memorial center in Ontario is open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and may be reached at 419-529-OCMS (6267), and online at: OhioCremation.org
