MANSFIELD — April 8 is the last day to register if you plan to vote in the May 7 primary in Richland County.
Here are some of the local ballot highlights:
In the City of Mansfield, Democratic voters have a plethora of candidates from which to choose, including:
Mayor — Current Mansfield At-Large Councilman Don Bryant vs. Victoria Norris-Diez. The winner will face Republican incumbent Mayor Tim Theaker in November.
Council at-large — Current Council President Phillip Scott vs. Joel Vega. The winner will face current 2nd ward Republican Councilman David Falquette in November.
4th Ward Council — Incumbent Walden “Butch” Jefferson vs. Alomar Davenport. The winner takes on Republican Amanda Stanfield in November.
6th Ward Council — Recent 6th Ward appointee Jean Taddie takes on challengers Doug Caldwell and Easther McNeil. The winner meets Republican Stephanie Zader in November.
Also in the City of Mansfield, officials seek a renewal for another four years of a 1/2 percent income tax issue for operating costs in the police and fire departments.
