BUCYRUS — Bucyrus Police reported a potential social security scam via the phone that reached out to a number of residents in the community on Tuesday afternoon.

According to a Bucyrus Police report, at approximately 3:03 p.m. Tuesday, officers received multiple calls about scam calls claiming to be from the Social Security Administration.

Residents are reminded not to give out any personal information over the phone. Government agencies do not begin any proceedings with a phone call.

Anyone who receives such a phone call is advised to contact local law enforcement immediately.

7:07 a.m. A Faustina Ave resident reported his unlocked vehicle entered overnight.

7:32 a.m. A S Walnut St resident reported her unlocked vehicle entered overnight. She reported her purse missing.

8:54 a.m. An open line 911 call was investigated in the 1700 block of Marion Rd.

8:56 a.m. Officers investigated a report of mailboxes being knocked over in the 1200 block of S Sandusky Ave.

9:37 a.m. Officers made a welfare check in the 800 block of E Mansfield St.

10:09 a.m. A disturbance in the 400 block of Charlotte St was investigated.

10:51 a.m. A disturbance in the 900 block of Hopley Ave was investigated.

11:02 a.m. Officers made an escort to the bank for county personnel.

11:07 a.m. Officers made a funeral escort.

12:45 p.m. Officers assisted with a vehicle lock out in the 400 block of N Sandusky Ave.

1:56 p.m. Officers attempted to serve a warrant in the 500 block of E Warren St.

2:09 p.m. Officers attempted to serve a warrant in the 400 block of W Charles St.

3:27 p.m. A resident in the 1100 block of N. Walnut Street reported a jar of pennies stolen from her residence.

3:32 p.m. Officers spoke to a juvenile at the Police Department about an incident on the school bus.

3:53 p.m. A truck trying to turn in the area of Sandusky and Plymouth Street snapped off a highway marker sign in the area.

4:57 p.m. Chad TenEyck, 25, was served a summons on a charge of Littering after reportedly discarding used mattresses behind a business on S. Sandusky Avenue. He was issued a summons to appear in court Wednesday.

5:50 p.m. A report of someone driving without a license was investigated in the 400 block of N. Sandusky Avenue. The vehicle and driver were not located.

7:02 p.m. Officers responded with EMS personnel to a medical emergency in the 900 block of E. Mansfield Street.

11:55 p.m. A hang up 9-1-1 call in the 300 block of E. Warren St. was investigated.

Wednesday, Feb. 6

7:05 a.m. Officers assisted Bucyrus Fire in the area of a garage fire in the 600 block of W. Perry St.

7:23 a.m. A breaking and entering in the 1100 block of S. Walnut St. is under investigation.
