MANSFIELD — Numerous vehicles in Mansfield needed emergency help Saturday after sliding off roads, but only one accident was reported Saturday afternoon, according to the Mansfield Police Department.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported numerous crashes across Richland County.

The snowstorm, which is expected to last until early Sunday morning, has caused a Level 2 Snow Advisory Level 2: Designed to advise motorists that all, or certain roadways in the county are hazardous with icy spots, blowing and drifting snow causing low visibility.

Only persons who deem it necessary to travel should be on the roadways. Employees should contact their employer to determine if they should report to work.

“We’ve only had one accident,” said Jim Eggeman, supervisor in the radio room at the Mansfield Police Deparment. “It was a three-vehicle accident.”

Eggeman added there was a report in his notes of an injury, but it did not detail the severity.

A call was placed to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, but all troopers were busy responding to vehicle calls in Richland County.

“There have been several crashes,” the operator said. “No one is at the post. I don’t know when they’ll be back. The snow is supposed to continue all day.”

Most if not all sporting events in north central Ohio are postponed for Saturday.

In addition, Richland Source has received these notices:
