Helen Mary Mlay, 94, of Mansfield, passed away Thursday afternoon, Dec. 27, 2018, at Winchester Terrace Nursing Home.

She was born March 8, 1924, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Samuel and Mary (Skvarla) Christoff.

She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, previously serving as church secretary. She worked as an executive secretary at Lumberman’s Mutual Insurance Co. She then went to work for and retired from Therm-O-Disc.

After retirement, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. Helen was a big Cleveland Indians fan as well as the Akron Rubber Ducks. She once had the privilege of throwing out the first pitch at a Ducks game.

Helen is survived by two children, Michele (Paul) Webb and Michael (Deloris) Mlay, both of Mansfield; four grandchildren, Paul (Sara) Webb of Mansfield, Kyle (Taryn) Webb of Ontario, Deanna (John) Mack of Bellville and Tom Norris of Mansfield; and five great-grandchildren, Dawson, Brayden, Caleb, Shayla and Tasha. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, George Christoff.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service conducted by Rev. Ronald E. Daley will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. with additional visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m.

She will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 541 Springmill St., Mansfield, Ohio 44903.
