MANSFIELD — The Mansfield/Richland County Public Library will host its annual Black History Celebration on Saturday, February 2 with festivities running from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring music, displays, food, and crafts for kids.

All food and entertainment are free and open to the public.

Mainstage entertainment highlights include praise dance, African dance, drumming and storytelling, rap, gospel, and R&B funk.

Food highlights include a Pound Cake and/or Dressing (Stuffing) Contest and soul food in The Café presented by the Miss Lil’s Fish Catering served in the Community Room of the Library. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes will be awarded in each category of the pound cake and dressing contests.

Following is a schedule of Black History Celebration events:

11 a.m. to 3 p.m.: The Marketplace presenting arts & crafts for sale by local artisans, and displays with information by local agencies.

11 a.m.: Jesus Jewels, a praise dance troupe from Shiloh Baptist Church, composed of members age 12 and younger.

11 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Crafts for Kids: Children’s Department

11:30 a.m.: Is Said and Advance Party – presenting African dance, drumming, poetry, and storytelling.

Noon to 2 p.m.: Soul Food @ The Café: Community Room

12:30 p.m.: AlliCat – Mansfield’s own Allison Lindsay

1:15 p.m.: The Male Chorus from New Beginning Full Gospel Baptist Church

2 p.m.: Alter Ego, Mansfield’s own R&G funk band
