  • A photograph of the Maplehurst mansion. Date of the photograph is unknown.

  • Today, the site of Maplehurst is occupied by the Colony Condominiums on East Gambier Street.

  • The Maplehurst grounds are sketched in the 1896 Caldwell map of Mount Vernon.

  • This sketch of the murder scene ran in the Mount Vernon Republican News.

  • Today the Colony Condominiums partially cover the part of the mansion grounds where Miranda Bricker was murdered.

  • This is the approximate view that Mrs. Lemuel Swigert had from across the street. The murder was taking place on a night without a new moon, and she could not clearly see what was happening, or even how many people were involved. She finally dismissed it as drunken antics.

  • This is the house at the corner of Ann and McKenzie Streets where the bloodhounds tracked a scent from the murder scene. Inside, 18-year old George Copeland was arrested for murder.

  • An illustration of the murder victim, Miranda Bricker, that appeared in local media coverage.
