MANSFIELD — The Ohio Rebels is a local 4th grade AAU basketball team coached by Johnny Brooks, with assistants Rashad Reed Sr, Ryan Au and Jermaine Hughes Sr.
They have competed in several elite tournaments already this year.
The Rebels were 4th grade champions at 2018 Nike Grassroots Tournament; they won the 2018 Hidden Gems Tournament, despite playing up in the 5th grade division; were runner-up at the 2018 Buckeye Prep 4th division; and this past weekend won the 2018 Dru Joyce Classic 4th grade Silver Bracket.
Buckeye Prep has the Rebels ranked as a Top 5 team in the state.
Two players are on the Stars to Watch List – Rashad Reed Jr. and Dantrell Hughes.
“These boys dedicate most of their time to basketball and every one of them is an excellent student as well,” noted a press release from the Ohio Rebels. “We are very proud of these young boys and what they have achieved so far.
“We’re not done yet.”
