WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP — A 4-year-old girl suffered non-life threatening injuries after being struck by a car Monday morning, according to Major Joe Masi with the Richland County Sheriff’s Office.
A 9-1-1 call was placed shortly after 9 a.m. asking for medical assistance at 3627 Middle-Bellville Road.
According to Masi, a 4-year-old child was going to ride along with her father and brothers to school. The children went outside and one of the boys started the car. The father then got inside the car and started to back out of the driveway, thinking all three of the children were inside the vehicle.
“They felt a bump and then heard screaming,” Masi said.
The 4-year-old was transported to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Masi said.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation of the incident.
“Based on what we know, it was an unfortunate accident,” Masi said.
