ASHLAND – Five people were arrested Friday after Ashland Police and the METRICH Enforcement Unit conducted two traffic stops along East Main Street as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation, according to a press release from Lt. Garry Alting of the Ashland Police.
The first stop was conducted at 9:36 a.m. when a vehicle operated by Shannon Malicki, 38, of Wellington, was stopped by Ashland Police along East Main Street near Sugarbush Drive. Authorities say the stop resulted in confiscation of suspected crystal methamphetamine and drug abuse instruments. As a result, Malicki and her passenger, Jessica Sanders, 26, of Ashland, were taken into custody.
As part of the same investigation, a high-risk traffic stop was conducted in the 1900 block of East Main Street at 12:39 p.m. resulting in the seizure of suspected crystal methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Officers also seized evidence related to trafficking in methamphetamine. James Graffice III, 36, of Polk, Christopher Honeycutt, 23, of Ashland, and Owen Gibson, 20, of Ashland were all arrested.
Follow up from both stops led officers to a room at Motel 6 where more suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and drug abuse instruments were seized, Ashland Police reported.
The Ashland County Sheriff’s office and the Ashland Post of the State Highway Patrol assisted in the high-risk stop.
