Betty Caroline Perry, 94, of Mansfield, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born Aug. 22, 1923, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Russell and Miriam (Shultz) Emerson.

Growing up in a family of eleven siblings, Betty learned early in life the value of hard work and the benefits of having your siblings be your friends. She was formerly employed at Westinghouse Corp., North American Knitting Mill and Grant’s Five and Dime Store. Betty was a member of Ridgeway First Church of God. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, oil painting and playing cards. She looked forward to her many bus trips she shared with family and friends.

Betty is survived by three children, David (Audrey) Perry, of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, Donald Perry, of Mansfield, and Bambi (George Wesley) Freeman, of Shrewsberry, Pennsylvania; one grandchild, Brian (Shannon) Frame, of Ashland, Ohio: five sisters, Daisy Hardy, of Gilbert, Arizona, Martha Robertson, Miriam Moore, Rhea Daugherty and Patricia Chelski, all of Mansfield; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ottis L. Perry; sisters, Gladys Maxheimer and Mable Jordan; and brothers, John, Robert and Bill Emerson.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Ridgeway First Church of God, 1380 Park Avenue East, Mansfield, Ohio 44905.
