Darrel Mays, 68, of Mansfield, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Born Feb. 28, 1949 in Olive Hill, Kentucky, he was the son of William Noyce and Ottie (Porter) Mays.
He was a member of Mansfield First Friends Church and retired from Bedford Auto Wholesale. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and tinkering in his garage with his tools. He truly loved his wife and children and adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Reba (Stamper) Mays whom he married Sept. 2, 1967; a daughter, Rita (Chris) Milligan, of Lucas; a son, Darrel Richard (Rachel) Mays, of Seville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Heather (Ricky) Sutter, of Mount Vernon, Nathan (Trystan) Mays, of Medina, Alex Milligan, of Lucas, and Lukas Mays, of Seville; five great grandchildren, Matthew, Juelien, Isaiah and Atarah Sutter and Zoey Mays; three brothers, Roger Mays, Harlon (Tammy) Mays and Rodney (Linda) Mays, all of Mansfield; a sister, Marlene Boggs, of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Dwayne Bond, Jr. and a sister, Delena Mays.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2018 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 South Diamond Street, Mansfield. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018 at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Mark Condo and Rev. Gary Lambert. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
