Sue Ann (Shuty) Gilbert, 60, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018 at Oak Grove Manor, Mansfield, Ohio.

Born Dec. 2, 1957 to Albert J. Shuty and Marilyn McGill Shuty, in Shelby, Ohio. She spent her childhood just outside of Plymouth, Ohio.

Graduating from Plymouth High School, she pursued a college degree at Ashland College, majoring in Music Education. An accomplished pianist and vocalist, she was talented enough to have played various instruments throughout her musical career, from tubas to classical guitars, and mandolins, however her forte’ was in piano.

Sue taught in many schools over the years, from teaching elementary students “Little Bunny Foo Foo” to leading many choirs and assisting with marching bands over her career. A very talented musician, accomplished and polished, she even toured Europe while in her college years. She graced many stages and commanded many performances.

Along with music, her interests were gardening and flowers, having worked for years with local nurseries and interacting with the public as a local postmaster for several locations across the region. Sue gave of herself in all she did, to the utmost, she led worship for many years in a local church as well, and she knew the Lord of Heaven.

Survivors include one son, Adam Gilbert, of Galion, Ohio; two brothers, James Shuty, of Lexington, Ohio and Steven (Rebecca) Shuty, of Atlanta, Georgia; and ex-husband and friend, Dana Gilbert, of Wooster. Several uncles, aunts and cousins, nephews and nieces reside across the nation.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 2018 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road.
