BUCYRUS — Bucyrus Police urged area residents to be aware of a potential phone scam in the community.
On Monday, at approximately 3:09 p.m., an employee of Ehrharts Party Store reported a phone scam to the business. A caller claiming to be from AEP advised them their account was past due and the electric would be shut off in 20 minutes if they did not make a payment over the phone.
The employee contacted AEP directly and was advised this was a scam.

7:54 a.m. Officers investigated a reported suspicious vehicle in the area of Aumiller Park.
9:16 a.m. Officers assisted Mt. Gilead PD in the 1000 block of Wingert St. looking for a suspected hit-skip vehicle from a crash in Morrow County.
11:42 a.m. A subject came on station to report his vehicles entered overnight on Howard St.
12:20 p.m. Officers investigated a report of a counterfeit bill given as payment to an individual in the 200 block of W. Warren St.
1 p.m. A woman in the 900 block of Whetstone St. reported someone attempting to use her identity to obtain money.
1:16 p.m. Officers attempted to locate a vehicle driving recklessly in the Marion Rd. area.
2 p.m. A traffic warning was issued on N. Sandusky Ave. near River St.
2:16 p.m A domestic problem in the area of Bucyrus Plaza was a verbal dispute.
2:36 p.m. A written warning was issued to a motorist in the 100 block of W Oakwood Ave.
2:54 p.m. A disturbance in the 300 block of W. Mansfield Street was an uninvited guest and the subject left the area.
5:12 p.m. Officers stood by for a civil property exchange in the 200 block of Wayne Avenue.
5:35 p.m. A traffic warning was issued in the 200 block of Whetstone Street.
6:45 p.m. Officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the 800 block of S. Poplar St. Don Webb, 39, was arrested on charges of Domestic Violence and Violating a Civil Protection Order. He was transported to the Crawford County Justice Center to be held for court.
7:24 p.m. A report of someone seeing a flashlight in a vacant apartment in the 300 block of Wiley Street was investigated. The subject located had permission from the owner to be there.
7:48 p.m. A disturbance in the 100 block of W. Mansfield Street was three unwelcome patrons trying to start trouble and they left the area.
8:21 p.m. A traffic warning was issued in the 600 block of N. Sandusky Avenue.
Tuesday, Nov. 28
12:02 a.m. A report of a suspicious person in the 1100 block of Hopley Ave. was investigated.
12:34 a.m. A N. Sandusky Ave. resident reported his debit card stolen and used.
4:23 a.m. Officers investigated an open line 9-1- 1 call from Altercare.
5 a.m. A traffic warning was given in the area of Harris Ave. and Southern Ave.
6:30 a.m. Officers responded to an alarm in the 2000 block of Marion Rd. It was a false alarm.
