Richland Source of Mansfield and KnoxPages.com, of neighboring Mount Vernon, announced Tuesday, Oct. 31, the two online media companies have agreed to merge.
Richland Source purchased KnoxPages.com at the end of October, thus ensuring Knox County residents will continue to receive online access to important news about their communities.
Marty Trese has owned KnoxPages since June of 2012. In that time the site has grown to become a respected source for online news in Knox County. Trese will continue with Richland Source as an Account Executive, serving current and future advertising clients of KnoxPages.
Editorial coverage will grow to include high school sports, as well as enhanced business, and community events coverage.
“We are excited as KnoxPages.com moves to the next level with Richland Source,” Trese said. “Readers will continue to enjoy the site’s popular features and a new format.”
Richland Source’s President Jay Allred emphasized what he sees as across-the-board benefits from the acquisition. The Ohio-owned local media company has been gradually expanding into neighboring media markets from its headquarters in Mansfield.
“We launched with the belief that here’s a gap in the market for constructive, forward-thinking local news and marketing solutions,” Allred said. “We spent the past couple of years figuring out the business and the editorial model in Mansfield. Now that we’ve done that, we’re actively building a larger coverage footprint.
