Esther R. (Sampsel) Neighbors, 84, of Mansfield, passed away surrounded by her family, on Monday, July 10, 2017.
Esther was born on Sept. 22, 1932, in Mansfield, to Clifford W. and Eva (Kaffman) Sampsel. She retired from Hartman Electric. She married Ralph Neighbors on Dec. 24, 1950, and he survives.
She loved her family and enjoyed spending time especially with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed flower gardening and garage sales.
Along with her husband, Ralph, she is survived by three daughters, JoAnn (Rod) Lucas, Mary (Frank) Dulin, and Janet (William) Hagans, all of Mansfield; five grandchildren, Ricky Miller Jr., of Mansfield, Heather (Joe) Reilly, of Columbus, Mikayla Leicy, of Mansfield, Hilary (Nathan) Hedrick, of Columbus, and Amanda R. Neighbors, of Mansfield; seven great- grandchildren, Daevon Leicy, Xavier Miller, Malachi Miller, Isaiah Miller, Cassia Miller, Liliana Miller, and Juliana Reilly; special friend, Leah Dulin; and step-grandchildren, Jeremy Lucas, Crystal Trainer, and Carrie Rhoades.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents; one son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Patty Neighbors; two sisters, Gertrude Sampsel and Betty Neely; half-sister, Mary Jane Bowers; and half-brother, William “Bud” Sampsel.
Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to noon on Friday, July 14 at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield, Ohio. Funeral services will follow at noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery.
