MANSFIELD — A package containing 200 grams of the illicit synthetic compound U47700, destined for Mansfield, was intercepted on June 23 by investigators of the Cleveland office of the Homeland Security Investigations/ICE, according to the METRICH Enforcement Unit.

METRICH Commander Lt. Joseph D. Petrycki said the METRICH Enforcement Unit, Homeland Security Investigations/ ICE and the United States Postal Inspection Service are currently conducting a joint investigation into the source and the destination of the package.

“METRICH Enforcement Unit is working hard to target those individuals that are trafficking illegal drugs, especially fentanyl and other illicit synthetic compounds that lead to overdoses or overdose deaths,” Petrycki said. “The METRICH Enforcement Unit encourages citizens to continue to be proactive by reporting suspected drug activity.”
