MANSFIELD — Local authorities are investigating a possible connection after a series of 11 overdoses was reported throughout the city on Thursday.

Mansfield Police and METRICH are investigating the source of the overdoses and are encouraging the community to also report any possible source of the opioids.

“The majority of which are believed to be opioid-related,” stated a press release from METRICH Sgt. Steve Blust. “They were treated by Mansfield Fire and transported to Ohio Health Hospital for further treatment.

Blust said the METRICH Enforcement Unit will continue to target those individuals that sell drugs, especially fentanyl, and any drugs containing U47700 in Richland County. The METRICH Enforcement Unit encourages citizens to continue to be proactive by reporting suspected drug activity.
