MANSFIELD — Are you looking for a better job? Are you seeking an employee with a particular skill set?

The Richland Source would like to help. The online news agency has added a new element to its website with the goal of connecting the community to local employers, and vice versa.

The new Jobs page at RichlandSource.com is dedicated to advertising Richland, Ashland and Crawford County job openings.

“We saw a place where we could serve the market by creating a truly local marketplace for job seekers and companies to come together,” said Jay Allred, Richland Source publisher.

Now through July 4, employers can post a 30-day job listing for one penny — or choose from a list of upgraded packages.

“What we are trying to build is an easy way for an HR department to post a job,” Allred said. “But if they really want to super-charge that listing, we’ve offered options for folks to be able to do that at very reasonable price points.”

If employers aren’t yet registered users, they’ll be prompted to create a free account before posting. This process takes a few minutes.

On the other hand, people searching for jobs can scroll through the list of available positions at richlandsource.com/jobs.

“We’ve built this really vibrant, local audience so this was a service we thought we could provide,” Allred said. “It was natural to take that next step.”

Allred anticipates that the number listings will increase over time, but he doesn’t foresee the Richland Source expanding further into classified advertising.

“The battle for classifieds has been waged and Craigslist won,” he said. “So people like us, we have to look beyond what classified advertising used to be.”

Account executive Diana Donovan came up with the idea and the Richland Source sales team worked together to make it a reality.
