John W. Bierly, 85 of Shelby, died Tuesday afternoon June 6, 2017 at Crestwood Care Center.
Born March 11, 1932 in Butler, Ohio to Ken and Isabelle (Kunkle) Bierly, he was a Shelby resident since 1959.
John graduated from Butler High School and then served his country in the Air National Guard.
He was a dairy farmer the majority of his life and was the owner/operator of Hillcrest Vu. He received numerous awards for his dairy cows and was named Farmer of the Year by Brewster Dairy for the quality of the milk he produced.
John was a member of McElroy Rd. Church of Christ, where he was an elder and John’s life revolved around his family, his church and his beloved cows.
He is survived by his wife Ruth L. (Spearman) Bierly, of Shelby, whom he married Jan. 5, 1951; his son, David Bierly, of Shelby, and two great grandchildren, Aleisha and Skyler Rollison .
He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Cheryl and brother, Bob Bierly.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
