Carl W. Toney, 80, Crestline, died peacefully at his home after a lengthy illness on Sunday, June 4, 2017.
Carl was born in Clear Creek, West Virginia on Nov. 27, 1936 to the late Waldo and Strossie E. (Lilly) Toney. He married Linda P. Bailey on June 11, 1960 and she survives him.
Carl came to Ohio in 1960 from West Virginia. Carl was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy, Crestline. He retired in 1999 from Moyer’s Auto Wrecking as a crane operator. Carl loved to work in his garden, go fishing and mushroom hunting.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children, Greg Toney and Bobbi Jo Stevens, of Crestline, Steve and Venet Toney, of Granville, Sherry (Steve) Johnson, of Crestline; his grandchildren, Christopher and Colleen Toney, Quintin Toney and fiancé Danielle Coffman, Kevin Toney, Britney Johnson and fiancé Marc Sleeck, Kaleb Johnson and Mandy Tesso, Jakeb Johnson, Sophia Dunkin, Catherine Dunkin, Matt Dunkin, Sarah Dunkin, Jennifer Carlyle, Austin Stevens, great-granddaughters, Annalisa Lynne Toney, and Averie Tesso, his five brothers, Jackie (Cheryl) Toney, of Beckley, West Virginia, Roger (Beverly) Toney, of Pine View, West Virginia, Michael (Mindy) Toney, of Maple Valley, Washington, Ronnie (Sandy) Toney, of Pilot, Virginia, Freddie (Chelsea) Toney, of Radford, Virginia; two sisters, Carolyn Taylor, of Pulaski, Virginia, Cathy (Roy) Price, of Pilot, Virginia.
Carl was preceded in death by his son, Dwayne Toney, his sister, Freda Ballew and his half-brother, Gary Daniels.
Friends may call on Friday, June 9, 2017 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 223 W. Main Street, Crestline. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on June 9, 2017 with Rev. Joe Stafford officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Crestline.
