ONTARIO — There’s more than one way to understand the English language.

At Stingel Elementary School, Autum Barry’s 1st graders have been studying adjectives.

They recently created acrostic “Namebows” using each letter in their names to find a word to describe themselves. In their writing, students have also been concentrating on using adjectives to develop more descriptive paragraphs.

In their chick journals, they used what they had learned to write paragraphs describing how it felt to hold a baby chick.
