MADISON TOWNSHIP — A parental complaint that a Madison 5th grader threatened another with a knife has drawn the attention of the Richland County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Maj. Joe Masi, the mother of the alleged victim reported the incident on Wednesday morning.

“At 0851 hours today, the mother of a student who attends Madison Middle School reported that another student put a homemade knife to her son’s throat at 0830 hours on Monday, May 1, 2017,” Masi reported in a press release. “The mother came on station to report the incident.

“Deputies are currently investigating the incident and have contacted the Richland County Prosecutor’s Office to discuss incident. Both the victim and suspect students are age 11 and are in the 5th grade.”
