ASHLAND – Brent Coffy has been part of the Ashland business community for more than 14 years with Enhanced Home Painting, but he decided last year to take a chance and try something new.

Coffy opened Black Diamond Details in March 2016, spinning off the pressure washing business and combining it with auto detailing.

“When we were doing pressure washing as a painting company, we couldn’t go after washing contracts for trucks saying, ‘We’re Enhanced Home Painting. We want to wash your truck for you.’ So it just made sense as far as name and market,” Coffy said. “It’s been a really fun adventure.”

The business was on display Friday during an open house and ribbon cutting, sponsored by the Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce.

Coffy worked to remodel and renovate the building at 306 E. Third St., across from Emmanuel United Methodist Church, to fit his purposes. Black Diamond, which currently has four employees, moved into the location in December 2016. Now the building includes space to pressure wash vehicles in the back, then they move to the “paint booth” for buffing work and then they are finished in the front area.

“This is really the perfect space,” Coffy said.

Coffy is currently leasing the building but intends to purchase it next year.

Friday’s open house was a family affair for Coffy, with his brother, parents, wife, and four kids all present to support him.

“We appreciate you so much. We appreciate your entrepreneurial spirit and how you’ve just grown a whole flock of entrepreneurs,” said Barbie Lange, president of the Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce.

Coffy’s son Isaac runs Coffy Creations photography studio and his youngest son Josh runs Flight Media, a marketing company.

Ashland Mayor Duane Fishpaw and Ashland Main Street Executive Director Sandra Tunnell also welcomed Coffey and his business to the Ashland community.
