MANSFIELD — Two people have been arrested and charged in connection with Friday’s robbery of the Mechanics Bank, 980 Ashland Rd., according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Office.

The Richland County Major Crimes Unit reported it has identified the bank robber and the getaway driver. Cody B. Daniels, 25, has been charged with first-degree aggravated robbery, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s office. He is currently being held in the Cuyahoga County Jail on other charges.

A Sheriff’s Department press release stated the person driving the getaway has been identified as Mariah N. Dinya, 20. Dinya was located, arrested and transported to the Richland County Jail. Evidence of the crime was recovered, authorities stated. She has been charged with complicity to commit aggravated robbery, also a first-degree felony.

Authorities believe Daniels entered Mechanics Bank at 5:38 p.m. on March 31 with the intention of committing a bank robbery. As he entered the bank, his accomplice, Mariah N. Dinya, remained outside in the vehicle nearby. Daniels approached a teller, presented a note requesting money as he brandished a handgun. Daniels took an undisclosed amount of cash from the teller then fled the bank.

Awaiting Daniels outside was Dinya, as the driver of the vehicle. Daniels entered the vehicle, as a passenger, and the vehicle fled the area, according to the sheriff’s department.

Responding deputies were able to obtain descriptions of the male, female and vehicle. A description of the parties involved was then shared with media,

“We received information leading to the identification of Daniels, Dinya and the vehicle, which is owned by Dinya,” the press release states. “Sheriff J. Steve Sheldon thanks the public and media for their assistance.”
