Hubert Stewart, 74, of Mansfield, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017.
He was born May 29, 1942, in Pennington Gap, Virginia.
Hubert was a veteran of the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Hubert had an incredible work ethic and was employed for a total of 50 years. He previously worked at Westinghouse, General Motors and McClain Industries and retired from The Waterford, where he was a security guard. He loved life, having fun, traveling, and playing country and bluegrass music.
Hubert was an expert rifleman and enjoyed shooting targets and hunting. Coming from a large family of 20 children, he knew the importance of those bonds and cherished his family.
He is survived by his loving partner of 36 years, Shirley Primosic; two children, Wayne and David; five grandchildren; three brothers, Orville, Waymon and Bernard; six sisters, Judy, Irene, Patricia Ann, Angel, Dorothy, and Gladys; and many nieces and nephews.
Hubert is preceded in death by his parents, Wright and Rosie (Walden) Stewart; son, Raymond; five brothers, Rader, Clyde, R.C., Alford, and Willard; two sisters, Peggy Sue and Bernice; and a grandson, Steven.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Clifford Earl Tackett officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park with military honors presented by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad.
Special thanks to his nurses and especially the aides at Crystal Care Center and his brother, Orville, who helped Hubert in his long time battle with Parkinson’s Disease and Lewy Body Dementia.
