George H. Livingston

George H. Livingston, 89, of Shelby, died Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at his home.

George was born Nov. 6, 1927 in Dawson, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Roy and Catherine (McCormach) Livingston. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Korean Conflict.

George worked as a milk delivery driver for Sealtest Dairy in Shelby, a job that he reminisced of often. He then worked for the “Tuby,” currently ArcelorMittal, for over 20 years from where he retired.

George loved being outside gardening and working in his yard and especially delighted in sports, specifically the Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers. He enjoyed being with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and spoke of them often.

George is survived by his two daughters: Susan Livingston and Mary (Steve) Baldridge, both of Shelby; four grandchildren: Stephanie (Brian) West, Jennifer (Charlie) Osborne, Jeff (Joni) Baldridge, Jessica Baldridge (Aaron Johnson); four great grandchildren: Breann West, Lexi Johnson, Kolt Johnson, Sierra Baldridge; a brother-in-law: James Weil, of Minnesota; and a niece: Linda Bezoski.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years: Elinor M. (Weil) Livingston on Feb. 23, 2009; infant son: Matthew James Livingston; infant daughter: Jean Anne Livingston; and two brothers: Roy Livingston Jr. and William Livingston.

Family and friends are welcome on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 am. Rev. Dianna Barr, Chaplain of OhioHealth Hospice, will officiate and military honors will be conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to OhioHealth Hospice.
