Born Nov. 28, 1915 in Dickenson County, Virginia, to the late Tivis and Nevada (Sutherland) Counts.

Gracie loved watching her birds and fed them daily. She had a kind, loving and generous spirit which was shown in her many charitable contributions. She was a blessing to all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Grace is survived by three loving sons, James (Sandy) Hughes, Bernie Hughes and Ronnie Hughes, all of Mansfield; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 17 great great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Pauline Vance, of Tennessee, and Alice Sawyers, of Virginia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Hughes, in 1985; daughter, Teresa Hughes; grandsons, Christopher and Randy Hughes; brothers, Carl, Vern, Luther, Marvin, and Hagan Counts; and sisters, Att Brooks, Crease Sparks, and Helen Sutherland.
In keeping with Grace’s wishes, no local services will be held. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to assist the family in bringing Grace to the Mullins Funeral Home in Clintwood, Virginia for services and burial in Presley Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mansfield Free Will Baptist Church.
