Joel Bryan Van Buskirk, 43, of Tiro, passed away Tuesday evening, February 21, 2017, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.
He was born July 22, 1973, in Bucyrus, Ohio, to Joseph Leroy Van Buskirk and Betty Louise (Gardner) Van Buskirk.
Joel grew up in Nevada, Ohio, and graduated from Wynford High School. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for seven years. A free spirit with a love for adventure, he took a horse and buggy trip that lasted nine months, traveling from Oklahoma to Ohio five years ago. He loved the outdoors and all animals, but especially horses.
He is survived by four children, Brittany, Dillon, J.R. and Eustacia Van Buskirk; a grandson, James Smith; three sisters, Tracy, Kelly and Betty Jo; three brothers, John, Joe, and Steve; his mother, Betty L. Van Buskirk; and his fiancée, Melinda Dodson.
Joel was preceded in death by his father.
Honoring Joel’s wishes, there will be no services at this time. Wappner Cremation Center is privileged to serve the family.
