MANSFIELD — Shawshank Hustle, presented by Ohio Health, will take place for the third consecutive year in June.
The popular running and walking event featuring Shawshank Redemption filming sites returns Saturday, June 17, with a host of improvements and additions.
The running and walking event starts at the Ohio State Reformatory where much of the iconic film The Shawshank Redemption was filmed on SR 545 North of Mansfield. The course takes participants to Central Park while passing five other filming sites and offering rides at The Richland Carousel during the event.
New for 2017 will be free professional photography included, on-site parking with shuttle busses not required, USA track and field course distance certification and a custom backpack included with registration. Overall winners and two raffle winners will be awarded a pen made from The Shawshank Oak tree.
Registration includes onsite movie screening, free parking, a custom event shirt, finishers medal, backpack, chance at age group awards, event photography and participant on course tracking and timing and a tour ticket for the Ohio State Reformatory historic site.
Special guests from the classic film will be Scott Mann who portrayed Glenn Quentin and Renee Blaine portrayed Linda Dufrense.

The event was created by Rocketship Sports and has attracted over 6000 participants in the first two years as a benefit for Mansfield Reformatory Preservation Society.
