Abraham Coe Jr.

Abraham Coe Jr., 85, passed this life on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 in Liberty Nursing Center after an extended illness.

Mr. Coe was born on Sunday, Aug. 16, 1931 to the late Abraham and Alice (Bronson) Coe Sr. in Lane, South Carolina, and was a member of the Mansfield community for the past 68 years. He was an employee of Empire Detroit Steel Mill for 40 years and a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church.

Abraham was a very private and honest person who showed kindness and respect to all. In his heyday, Abraham was very neat, orderly, and his stylish quality dressing was among the best. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. 

Abraham is survived by two brothers: James (Anna) Coe, of Mansfield, and Harry Coe, of New Haven, Connecticut; two sisters: Elnora Rose and Ada Henderson, both of Greensboro, North Carolina, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition, to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Ruby Coe and a brother Isaac. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the Ruth Anna Lee Williams Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Services by Mr. Coe’s cousin Pastor Alan R. Core. The family will receive friends at the chapel beginning at 8:30 a.m. till time of funeral services. Interment will be in Mansfield Cemetery.

The family will also receive friends at the home of his brother, James from 4 to 8 p.m. daily until the day of services.
